The rules of using lexica.

TL;DR

lexica is in closed preview. Use it for personal language learning. Do not scrape, redistribute, or train models on its content. We can change features at any time. We provide no warranty.

What lexica is

lexica is a vocabulary-learning tool built and operated by Railly Hugo (the "operator"). During closed preview, access is by waitlist invitation. Eventually we will offer paid Pro tiers in addition to the free Core tier.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. You may not impersonate someone else, abuse the auth system, or share your account.

We use Clerk for authentication. Their terms apply to anything Clerk handles directly.

Content and IP

Vocabulary lemmas in the free tier come from SUBTLEX-US (Brysbaert & New, 2009), licensed CC-BY 4.0. Frequency counts and lemma lists derive from that corpus.

Nuggets, illustrations, audio clips, and the editorial copy on this site are owned by the operator. You may use them inside lexica for personal study. You may not redistribute, repackage, or train AI models on this content without explicit written permission.

Anki and TSV exports are provided so you can study offline in your own SRS. Personal study is fine; commercial use or redistribution is not.

Your assessment results, ratings, and any data you generate by using lexica belong to you. You can export it any time.

Closed preview tier

While lexica is in closed preview, access is free for waitlist-accepted users. Free does not mean guaranteed: we may rate-limit, pause, or revoke access if needed for capacity or safety reasons.

Preview users get a permanent discount on Pro after launch as a thank-you for early feedback.

AI-generated content

Some content (illustrations, draft nuggets) is generated with AI tools (gpt-image-2, Claude). Every nugget is reviewed by a human before it ships. We disclose AI involvement openly because honesty matters.

AI output can be wrong. Treat lexica content as study material, not professional advice. In particular, pharma and legal nuggets are language practice, not medical or legal counsel.

Acceptable use

Do not scrape the site or APIs at industrial scale. Do not abuse the assessment endpoints, the export endpoints, or the auth system.

Do not use lexica to generate content for resale or redistribution.

Do not impersonate, harass, or otherwise misuse the waitlist or any other public surface.

Termination

You can delete your account any time (see Privacy page). We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, abuse the service, or pose a safety risk.

On termination we wipe your row from the database within seven days (Clerk handles its side separately).

No warranty, limited liability

lexica is provided as-is. We make no warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uptime, accuracy of any specific answer, or fitness for any particular purpose.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator's liability is limited to the amount you paid in the past 12 months (which is zero during the preview tier).

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Peru, the operator's country of residence. Any dispute will be settled in the courts of Lima, Peru.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be emailed to everyone with an account before they take effect. The git history of this page is public on GitHub.
